Simon Chang attended the 45th Anniversary reception of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Guyana                     

(Text / Chart: Zhang Yun) the evening of 27^th June 2017 Chinese People's Foreign Friendship Association and the Guyanese Embassy in China jointly organised the celebration of the 45^th anniversary of established diplomatic relations between China and Guyana. Attending the conference were the principal leaders of the CPPCC National Committee Vice Chairman Ma Peihua, vice president of Chinese people's Association for friendship with foreign users think society, Ambassador of Guyana Beni Karen and other relevant units leadership; Director, as the Dingyuan International Exchange Centre in Dingyuan media manager Simon Chang was also invited to attend the celebration reception.

Republic of Guyana (Cooperative), referred to as Guyana (which means “land of many waters” according to indigenous languages), is located in the northern part of South America, with a total land area of 215 thousand square kilometres. The total population is 736,000, and the majority of the people are mainly of Indian and west African descent.

The most dominant religion is Christianity, followed by Hinduism and Islam. Guyana is the only country in South America which has English as its official language.

Guyana is bordered by Venezuela to the north-west, Brazil to its south and Suriname to its east. Guyana's official language and lingua franca is English, there is also widespread usage of Creole (based on English from Dutch, Hindi, African and Indian settlers). The Hindus and Muslims during religious rituals used Hindi, Urdu and Arabic languages. Most indigenous people speak one or more of the nine tribal languages.

Guyana is rich in natural resources. Minerals include gold, bauxite, diamonds, manganese, molybdenum, copper, tantalum, tungsten, nickel, uranium and so on. The gold reserves are abundant, it is one of the major gold producers in the world, which is the main mining area (OMAI) and the Marudi mountains. Bauxite is rich in reserves, about 3.6 tonnes, high grade, less impurities. But because of the deep ore source, the mining cost is higher. The main mining centre in the area and the Berbice Lyndon kwakwani etc..  

Guyana is rich in forest resources. 2013 Guyana Land Survey Committee data shows that the forest area of 185 thousand and 700 square kilometres, accounting for 86.4% of the land area of timber reserves of about 7 billion 400 million cubic meters, and a variety of more than 1000 kinds, often cutting 70 kinds of good material, large output has commercial development value of 15 or so, the purple wood and green the core of wood for the precious wood, strong corrosion resistance, is the finest building materials.

Guyana pursues an independent and non aligned foreign policy and develops friendly relations with other countries. The goal is to safeguard national sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, to promote national economic and social development, and to shape a good international image.

Attaches importance to the relationship with Caribbean countries and South American neighbours and tries to make GUI a bridge linking the Caribbean and South American countries. Focusing on the development of the relationship between the United States and Europe as the focus of foreign policy. He advocates developing friendly relations with all the countries in the world, actively participating in the activities of the non aligned movement, the Commonwealth and the United Nations, and advocating the establishment of a new global human order to improve the influence and position of GUI on the international political arena. Members of the Caribbean community, the Caribbean Development Bank, the South American League and the Inter American development bank.
